Are skin needling results permanent?

When people contact our Peterborough clinic enquiring about skin needling, one of the first
questions they ask us is, “are skin needling results permanent?” So, I thought I would explore
the answer to that question here in a blog.

Whether you are considering having a skin needling treatment, have already had one, or
simply want to better understand how it works and what kind of results you can expect,
read on.

One of the things I always pride myself on when deciding what treatments to add to our
menu here at The Beautiful Truth, Peterborough, is that they are results-driven and the best
on the market.

Skin needling may be increasing in popularity now, but it has actually been around for a long
time. One of the earliest treatments I trained in was semi-permanent make-up (SMP) or
micropigmentation. Even back then, practitioners were using their SMP tattoo machines to
perform collagen induction therapy (another name for skin needling) to help improve the
appearance of things like scar tissue and stretch marks.  This was also known as dry
tattooing.

I was amazed at how you could relax scars and even bring colour back into them, minimising
their appearance and impact on the patient. It was one of the things that made me realise
how many possibilities there are with cosmetic interventions, not just for beautification and
anti-ageing but for helping people with things that are impacting their quality of life.

With scars and stretch marks, you can get permanent results with skin needling. Once the
scar has been re-pigmented and relaxed, it may never be gone, but its appearance can be
significantly improved permanently (in a sense). Over time, natural collagen degeneration
can make scarring look worse again in the future, so be aware of that.

Will I see permanent results with skin needling for rejuvenation?

While you may see more permanent results with scars when it comes to the other
indications for skin needling, it’s not so cut and dry as permanent or non-permanent and
here’s why.

At The Beautiful Truth, Peterborough, we specialise in non-surgical aesthetic solutions. As
such, most of the treatments on our menu are not permanent. But this is not a bad thing.
When making any changes to your appearance, permanency is not always a plus. Just think
about people like Lesley Ash, who had permanent fillers back in the day. Two decades later,
people are still talking about how wrong it went. When it comes to cosmetic interventions,
permanent doesn’t always equal best.

We want to achieve long-term results that can adapt with you as you age with our
treatments. As we age, our face changes both outwardly and on an anatomical level, and so
what looked great in your 20s might not work in your 40s. We want to be able to tailor our
treatments to help give you consistent and natural-looking results, and that’s where the
focus would be on investing in yourself and your skin and maintaining results rather than a
one-off treatment and you are done.

This is where skin needling comes into its own. It is a 100% natural way of promoting your
body to make its own new collagen, hence why it is also known as collagen induction
therapy.

Rejuvapen collagen induction therapy

Our Rejuvapen collagen induction therapy is a highly effective clinically proven treatment
designed to improve the appearance of acne scarring, stretch marks (anywhere on the
body), fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and general skin rejuvenation.

It takes 90 minutes max and can even be done in your lunch break.

You will see results in about six weeks, and these will be ongoing for around two years. We
recommend a course of three treatments spaced six weeks apart to see the best outcome.
The longevity of your results will depend on your own cells, your lifestyle factors (if you
smoke, for example, you will not have such long-lasting effects)
